ecostore starts a love affair with New York’s Duane Reade stores

ecostore, the plant-based household and personal care products we know and love, are now available in the city that never sleeps – New York.

Duane Reade is the biggest drug store chain in New York City boasting more than 250 stores and is a popular one-stop-shop for local Manhattanites stocking up on health, beauty and convenience needs.

Founder of ecostore Malcolm Rands says: “With a 50-year history in the most exciting city in the world, the Duane Reade is the place where many of the world trendsetters shop. And ecostore is being promoted as the cutting edge eco option.

“With 150 stores on Manhattan Island alone, providing effective, healthy home products to city dwellers in such an iconic setting is very exciting for us.

The ecostore range available to locals, Wall Street brokers and movie-stars alike includes the enduringly popular Laundry Liquid, Citrus All Purpose Spray, Pure Oxygen Whitener and Dishwashing Liquid.

A special range of baby products including Sleepytime Bath and Baby Moisturiser are part of the personal care range on shelf at Duane Reade alongside the Body Wash and Hand Soap in a range of fragrances.

Local manufacturing helps manage carbon footprint
Apart from a range of bar soaps that are shipped to the United States, all ecostore products for this growing market are manufactured locally in an eco-factory based in Detroit.

Manufacturing locally helps to manage ecostore’s carbon footprint and is a critical factor for the company that was last year named New Zealand’s most Sustainable Business of the Year at the NZI National Sustainable Business Network Awards.

Rands cites ecostore’s central premise of developing products that give equal weighting to both the health and environmental benefits as a key factor in US interest in the Kiwi manufacturer.
