Solid Energy makes key Organisational Development and Strategy Appointment

Solid Energy has appointed Garry Diack to the newly-created position of Head of Organisation Development and Strategy. Based in Christchurch, Mr Diack will report to Chief Executive Officer, Dr Don Elder.

Dr Elder comments: “This new corporate position is a direct response to the significant growth opportunities and demands that confront the business. Over the next 10 years and beyond we’ll be continuing our drive for efficient utilisation of New Zealand’s substantial coal resources, while also bringing a number of new energy technologies to commercial application and continuing to invest strongly in renewable energy technologies.

“As a business Solid Energy will become a diverse, larger and innovative leader in energy products and solutions. As a result we need to significantly advance our organisation structures, capabilities and systems. This process will be lead by the Head of Organisation Development and Strategy.

“The establishment of this role is a significant investment in creating the capability and organisation required to drive our long-term vision for the responsible use of New Zealand’s natural resources.”

Garry Diack has been appointed to this role from a 20 plus year career as a consultant in corporate strategy and performance. Garry has been involved in performance improvement, governance and growth-related activities in a number of leading New Zealand and Australian corporate entities, including the establishment phases of Fonterra, News Limited, Tait Electronics Ltd and General Cable. He is also an active participant and advisor in New Zealand corporate governance and will continue as a director of SBS Bank and as Chair of General Cable Superconductors. Garry will retire from active involvement in the consulting company vera facienda to take up this role.
