Rapid Roadfreighters vehicles up for auction

More than 60 Rapid Roadfreighters vehicles up for auction in liquidation sale

After being placed in liquidation in December 2009, more than 60 assets belonging to Rapid Roadfreighters will go under the hammer at Turners Auctions on Wednesday.

The trucking company with a heritage of more than a century in New Zealand once had more than 200 vehicles throughout New Zealand.

Jason Tredgett of Turners Auctions says the total retail value of the items up for auction on Wednesday is more than $2 million and describes it as one of the biggest truck auctions Turners has ever managed.

“The fleet includes popular and reliable models such as Volvo, Mack, Daihatsu, Mitsubishi and Nissan, and we’ve got a great range of assets including 6X4 tractor units, curtain-siders, B-trains (some refrigerated), trailers, cab and chassis and alloy tippers. There’s also a huge range of prices. At one end of the scale is a 2000 Kenworth K104 6x4 Tractor Unit which is expected to sell for around $55,000, and at the other, a 1981 Domett 2 Axle Trailer worth around $1,000,” says Jason.

“With a motivated vendor and seven no reserve items, this auction is a great opportunity for businesses that have been cautious about upgrading or expanding their fleets to invest at a good price,” he says.

The full auction catalogue is made up primarily of Rapid Roadfreighters assets, however it also includes about a dozen other lots, including a 2005 Kenworth T401 6x4 Tractor Unit that is expected to sell for $75,000.
