Prices ease slightly for most wool types
New
Zealand Wool Services International Ltd reports that prices
of most types eased at today’s wool sales.
In the combined auction of North and South Island wool in Napier and Christchurch, 81 per cent of approximately 19,000 bales on offer sold.
According to New Zealand Wool Services International, in the South Island a very limited selection of mid micron fleece resisted the trend to rise in price by two per cent.
Prices for fine crossbred fleece and shears slipped back by 1.5 to 2.5 per cent.
Coarse fleece was generally one to two per cent cheaper, with the exception of a small selection in the North Island, which remained firm.
Coarse early shorn and second shears were strongly contested, also resisting the trend, to remain firm to 1.5 per cent stronger.
Lambs’ fleece was generally firm to two per cent easier.
Oddments also ranged from firm to two per cent down.
Main buyer interest today was from Australasian carpet mills, China, India and the United Kingdom, with support from Western Europe and the Middle East
With no sale next week, the next rostered wool auction will be a combined sale of North and South Island wool, in Napier and Christchurch, on 22 April, offering approximately 12,000 bales and 14,000 bales respectively.
