There’s A Kind Of Hush All Over Cathedral Square
Hotel Off The Square seals in the atmosphere, keeps out the noise
Hotel Off The Square, located in the very centre of Christchurch has installed a second set of windows to its front rooms to seal in the atmosphere and keep out all the action of the streets. To celebrate this new ‘wall of silence’ the hotel is offering a special ‘Serene Sleep’ package that includes accommodation in a superior room, breakfast for two and a sweet treat for NZ$179, valid till 30th September 2010.
The 38-room boutique hotel’s heritage-listed façade meant the existing windows could not be changed, but a solution to street noise came by installing new windows on the interior, with 13.8mm thick cyclone glass. The windows can even be opened to let in fresh air and allow guests to enjoy the excitement and action of the city during the day but enjoy a serene sleep at night.
Hotel Off the Square, located behind the Cathedral and above the tram tracks in Christchurch, is part of the Cathedral Junction project, which also features a street of shops enclosed within a glass atrium, two apartment buildings and five restaurant/bar areas.
The hotel follows the distinctive style of HIP hotels (Highly Individualised Places) with a variety of room types including New York-style loft apartments and superior rooms, in a Pacific theme of soft new-age modernism. With unique artworks, a heritage-listed façade and stylish interiors, Off The Square is one of four Accor hotels in Christchurch. Off The Square is a big name in fashion and design in the city and is popular with musicians, artists and business and leisure travelers. The hotel is the perfect place for a weekend escape.
