Abu Dhabi legal office “springboard for growth”
The opening of Kensington Swan’s new office in Abu Dhabi will provide both the firm and New Zealand with a springboard to develop trade and investment opportunities in one of the world’s most exciting financial markets.
That’s according to Kensington Swan Chairman, Clayton Kimpton.
The firm’s new office in Abu Dhabi was officially opened early today by the New Zealand Trade Minister, Hon Tim Groser.
Clayton Kimpton says it is a very proud day for Kensington Swan, one of New Zealand’s largest legal firms and the first professional services firm from New Zealand to open an office in the United Arab Emirates.
“The United Arab Emirates is one of New Zealand’s largest trading partners – the volume of non-oil trade between the two countries is almost NZ$400m – and future plans for the region are both inspired and visionary.
“The move is therefore important not just for Kensington Swan but for the New Zealand professional services sector as a whole.
“We believe having an office in Abu Dhabi will lead to a strengthening of economic and commercial ties between our two countries by promoting trade and investment cooperation,” he says.
Mr Kimpton says the move would not have been possible without the strong backing of the Governments of New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
“The opening follows a recent high-level ministerial and business delegation visit from the United Arab Emirates to New Zealand, led by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayad Al Nahyan.
“The visit was highly successful, and demonstrates how much the relationship between the two countries has developed in recent years,” he says.
Opening the new office, New Zealand Trade Minister Hon Tim Groser commended Kensington Swan for being the first New Zealand professional services firm to have an office in the United Arab Emirates.
The opening is significant not just for the firm, but also for businesses from both countries looking at developing closer ties.
There is huge commercial potential for trade between New Zealand and the wider Gulf region, and Kensington Swan believes it is up to the corporate sectors to build on the work of our respective governments to deepen economic connections.
“Undoubtedly the opportunities a firm like Kensington Swan can open up will lead to increased trade opportunities between the two countries. I would encourage other businesses to explore the wide range of opportunities available in this dynamic country,” said Mr Kimpton.
