Charles Finny to join Saunders Unsworth
Charles Finny will complete his time as CEO of the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce after 5 and a half years on 30 June 2010 and will from 1 July 2010 be joining New Zealand’s pre-eminent public policy company Saunders and Unsworth Limited. He will continue in many of his governance responsibilities including the Regional Transport Committee, the Boards of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and the New Zealand Film Commission, and the Victoria University Council.
“When taking on the Chamber role in early 2005 I indicated to the Board that I saw this role as a 4-5 year assignment. I have stayed on a bit longer to see through the work on the proposed merger between the Chamber and the EMA,” said Mr Finny.
“With the merger I can leave the Chamber even more comfortable about its future. The Chamber has been the voice of Wellington business for 154 years and I am sure that with the merger that voice will be even stronger.
“To assist with the transition to the new entity I will be contracting back substantial time to the Chamber in the July/August period and will continue to be the Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce’s spokesperson on Wellington issues over that period.
“Saunders and Unsworth Limited are active members of the Chamber and I look forward to many years of future association with the Chamber as a member.
“My initial focus of work at Saunders and Unsworth Ltd will be international trade, tertiary education, infrastructure, and local government issues.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Chamber and believe that we have had real impact over this period. I thank the Board and membership for the support they provided to me over the last 5 and a half years” Charles Finny concluded.
