Yahoo!Xtra Leads Again as Kiwi’s Favourite

Yahoo!Xtra Leads Again as Kiwi’s Favourite Homepage

AUCKLAND, June 3, 2010: For the third month in a row, Yahoo!Xtra is New Zealand’s favourite homepage.

Research from Nielsen Netratings shows Yahoo!Xtra’s homepage received 3.6 million domestic unique browsers for the month of May, making Yahoo!Xtra’s homepage audience 10% larger than TradeMe’s homepage.

“More Kiwis are choosing to begin their online journeys using our homepage than ever before,” says Laura Maxwell-Hansen, Yahoo!Xtra General Manager.

“We are increasingly Kiwis favourite website. We think this reflects the strength of our local editorial team who know what New Zealanders want to do online.”

Yahoo!Xtra believes the growth in its home page audience is coming from regularly updated local content, regional weather, seasonal sports coverage and quirky news items.

The company has been the number one New Zealand publisher homepage for three months running (March-May 2010), a position the company also held in August and September in 2009.
