MEDIA RELEASE 9 JUNE 2010
Suitcases Packed With Gold
Saint Clair Family Estate owners Neal and Judy Ibbotson have just returned from their annual visit to London where they showcased their wines at the world’s most elaborate trade show of the year – The London Wine Trade Fair. They returned with suitcases packed with gold from recent international show success.
The Decanter
World Wine Awards is known as one of the most prestigious
and influential wine competitions in the wine industry.
Saint Clair Family Estate was awarded more gold medals than
any other New Zealand wine producer.
• GOLD MEDAL
- Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2009
• GOLD MEDAL - Saint Clair Pioneer Block 19 Bird Block Sauvignon Blanc 2009
• GOLD MEDAL - Saint Clair Pioneer Block 6 ‘Oh!’ Block Sauvignon Blanc 2009
The Sommelier Wine Awards is Britain’s only wine
competition specific to the on-trade. Wines entered must
not be available in mainstream off-trade outlets and hence
only available to the on-trade. Saint Clair Marlborough
Sauvignon Blanc 2009 has been recognised as exceptional
quality and achieved the highly regarded gold list
status.
A record number of 46 wine producing countries entered in the International Wine Challenge of 2010 – the largest number in the 27 years that this show has been operating. Once again, the Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2009 was awarded a gold medal.
Neal and Judy are thrilled with this recent recognition commenting, “The outstanding results are attributed to our unique quality assessment system, which has identified superior sub-regions of Marlborough. This, combined with a strong team approach focused on quality, has lead Saint Clair Family Estate to being one of New Zealand’s most awarded wineries”.
It is no wonder that Saint Clair Family Estate has now been ranked number 29, in the world’s best 100 wineries, by the World Association Wine and Spirit Writers and Journalists (WAWWJ, May 2010).
The results reflect Saint Clair’s quality from a
number of Marlborough vineyard sites that are able to
produce gold medal wines across a broad range of price
points.
