Emirates Providing Treatment For Football Fans

News Release, 11 June 2010

Emirates Providing Treatment For Football Fan Fever
In Air And At Airports

Onboard Emirates flights, football fans can look forward to updates on their team's progress at the 2010 FIFA Wold Cup™ with screenings of the most recent matches, as well as live text updates of current matches being played.

And in a number of airports that Emirates serves, depending on timing, passengers waiting to board their flights will not miss any of the action thanks to big, specially designed plasma screens that will be showing all of the live action. In addition to this, many of Emirates’ First Class and Business Class Lounges will broadcast the matches live so that frequent fliers and premium passengers can enjoy all the instant football action.

Emirates’ onboard award-winning ice entertainment service will feature recordings of all the games from the 64-match tournament, as well as live goal-by-goal updates and text commentary.

Maurice Flanagan, Executive Vice Chairman, Emirates Airline & Group, said: “This is another important way that we utilise our FIFA sponsorship to benefit our passengers and sport fans around the world.”

The plasma screens broadcasting live coverage of every match will be placed in various locations across airports in New York, Zurich, London Heathrow, Tokyo, Sydney, Amsterdam, Paris, Milan, Hamburg, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Dubai.

Emirates’ partnership with FIFA began at the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ when it became the first airline to be a sponsor of the prestigious sporting event. Following on from the success of the tournament in Germany, Emirates then cemented its status as an Official FIFA Partner up to and including the 2014 FIFA World Cup™.

*Because of time differences, the Emirates Lounge in Auckland will be unable to screen live coverage of matches.
