SmartGate enhances Trans Tasman experience

SmartGate at Wellington Airport enhances Trans Tasman passenger experience

SmartGate will enhance the international passenger experience at Wellington Airport by making it quicker and easier for people to travel between Wellington and Australia.

Travellers arriving from Sydney were the first passengers to use the automated passenger processing facility at Wellington Airport today after it was launched by the Minister of Customs, Hon Maurice Williamson.

“SmartGate is a product of the strong partnership between airports and the border agencies, opening the way for other collaborative opportunities to improve the passenger facilitation experience up and down the processing stream,” said Wellington Airport CEO, Steven Fitzgerald.

“This is an important step in the Government’s agenda of streamlining travel between New Zealand and Australia,” he added.
