Harcourts’ Marlborough franchise honoured

Harcourts’ Marlborough franchise honoured

17 June 2010:  Harcourts’ Marlborough franchise was honoured at the recent Harcourts New Zealand conference, receiving a special award in recognition of the company’s more than 20-year membership of the Harcourts group.

Now trading as Marlborough Real Estate 2008 Ltd, the company was originally established by long-time local realtor John Davis, who became only the third ever Harcourts franchise owner when Harcourts Group Ltd first introduced the franchise model in 1989.

Mr Davis, who commenced his real estate career in 1976, says he was approached by two different real estate companies interested in getting him to buy their Marlborough franchise.

“The enthusiasm of the Harcourts people I dealt with and the fact that Harcourts was a New Zealand-owned franchise, unlike the other company, won me over,” he says, “and I’ve never looked back.”

Still heavily involved in the business, training, selling commercial real estate and working on special projects, Mr Davis says he’s proud of what the Harcourts Marlborough franchise has achieved to date and is confident about the future of his “dynasty”, which is now in the capable hands of his sons Mark and Aaron.

“Just as the Harcourts group has grown and evolved so too has our franchise, expanding our team, introducing a property management division, opening an office in Kaikoura and winning numerous national awards,” Mr Davis says.

“What’s also been rewarding has been seeing our wonderful team help so many people to buy and sell property in the Marlborough region over the past two decades,” he says.

“Even after all these years I still love real estate and being part of Harcourts and I know the business is in safe hands for the future.”

Harcourts’ Head of Real Estate Operations for Australasia Bryan Thomson says Harcourts is very proud of the long-term relationships that have been built and maintained with exceptional realtors such as the Davis family.

“Over more than 20 years with Harcourts their franchise has made a huge contribution to the success of our group and continues to do so today.”
