Harcourts leads way with new office in Pegasus

Harcourts leads way with new office in Pegasus town

21 June 2010: Harcourts has become the first independent operator to establish a business in North Canterbury’s rapidly developing Pegasus town, earlier this month opening a new office near the showhome village in the high-profile subdivision.

Well located on the corner of Pegasus Boulevard and Whakatipu Street, the new Harcourts Pegasus office is a joint venture between successful multi-office Harcourts franchises Grenadier Real Estate Ltd and Twiss Keir Realty Ltd, and the first business other than those operated by the development’s owners to be opened onsite.

Harcourts Grenadier’s Managing Director Peter Greene explains opening the new onsite office was a natural progression for the franchise, which has been working with the developers right from the planning stages and shares the vision of what Pegasus is to become.

“While we have had sales consultants marketing and selling sections in Pegasus for some time, with the town now fast taking shape we felt it was appropriate to take the next step, in partnership with local Harcourts franchise Twiss Keir, so that together we can better serve those interested in buying, selling and renting in Pegasus, which will eventually be home to about 7000 people,” he says.

“Having a permanent office will help give Harcourts and the properties we’re marketing additional exposure and also provides a convenient base for our growing Pegasus team to work and for clients to meet with them,” he explains.

Harcourts Twiss Keir Director James Twiss says around 750 Pegasus sections have already been sold and over 120 houses are either built or under construction, with estimates 200 homes will be completed by Christmas and a further 650 sections released for sale over the next two years.

“With the economy improving and the Government’s Budget moves now known, interest is definitely growing in Pegasus, which is built around a beautifully designed lake and alongside New Zealand’s newest championship golf course, so it’s exciting times to be setting up an office there.”

As he explains, Harcourts already has three sales consultants and an office administrator for the Pegasus office and will to expand the team further over the coming months.

“Initially our focus will be on section sales in the sub-division, but obviously as houses are built and put on the market or advertised for rent we’ll be involved in those transactions as well,” he says.

Harcourts Head of Real Estate Operations for Australasia Bryan Thomson has welcomed the establishment of a new Harcourts office in Pegasus.

“The Grenadier and Twiss Keir teams have realised the potential of having a Harcourts office in Pegasus and I commend them on taking the initiative and becoming not just the first real estate brand to set up a business there but also the first independent operator to be based there as well,” he says.

“Given two excellent Harcourts franchises are involved in this new joint venture office I have every confidence it will prove to be a success and I wish the team all the best in this exciting new town.”
