SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre wins

SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre wins
International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit conference

SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre has been chosen as the venue for the 2010 International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit.

The World Dairy Summit and associated Business Meetings will be held at the SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre from 5 November until 11 November. This will be only the second time the World Dairy Summit has been to New Zealand shores with 2001 being the first time in New Zealand, in the summits history.

The summit will include 12 separate conferences, covering topics from farming practices to the consumer plate.

Andy Williams, Convenor for the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit explains why the SKYCITY Convention Centre is the perfect choice for the coming summit.

“The need to confirm a venue became important, having considered the facilities and the enthusiasm of the people associated with SKYCITY the choice became quite easy.”

“Not being sure of delegate numbers and likely support from sponsors and other interested parties due to recessionary pressures, taking the decision to maximise the possibilities with venue facilities and catering has now paid off. Delegate numbers are looking promising, getting close to half our estimations and virtually all sponsorship packages have been taken up by those supportive of the dairy industry. There has also been considerable interest by overseas companies in being present so the ability to host in a location such as SKYCITY where exhibitors and delegates don’t have to move far to interact fits with the organising requirements.”

“Additional benefits have also continued with the flexibility to expand the catering and other hospitality services from SKYCITY to other venues where different functions will be held for the delegate programme.”

“The choice of SKYCITY as the venue for the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit has proven to be ideal thus far for what is planned with the decision ultimately proving itself in November.”

General Manager SKYCITY Hotels Group and NZ Facilities Development Simon Jamieson is excited to see such an important conference being held at SKYCITY.

“Hosting the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit for 2010 at the SKYCITY Convention Centre shows that we have world class facilities and are the first choice as a venue for important global conventions.”

Over the four day summit in excess of 1200 delegates from around the world will be attending the various conferences and the dinner, to be held at the ASB Showgrounds and catered by SKYCITY Events and Outcatering.

The economical benefit to Auckland during the summit will reach around $5,000,000 mark taking into consideration accommodation, pre and post summit sightseeing and overall spending by the delegates.

The World Dairy Summit seeks ways to discover and analyse information through a panel of excellent speakers. Delegates of the summit will have an opportunity to gain more incisive knowledge about what makes the New Zealand industry work with technical visits to research facilities, farming enterprises and manufacturing facilities.
