Fothergills On Mimiha Wins AA Spirit Of Hospitality Award
Fothergills on Mimiha in Whakatane scooped up the AA Spirit of Hospitality Award for Excellence in Home Hosting at the @home NEW ZEALAND conference held in Wellington from 24 to 27 June 2010.
Recognising excellence in service, the award was presented to Bev and Hilton Fothergill by AA Tourism General Manager Sales NZ, Dereck Howes.
“Fothergills on Mimiha has consistently set a high service standard in the industry. As a previous finalist for the award, it is not surprising to see them take first place this year,” says Mr Howes.
The finalists included were Alpine Vista Bed & Breakfast in Lake Tekapo, Broekhaven Cottage in Rotorua, Colonial Homestay in Tairua, Hot Water Beach Bed & Breakfast in Hot Water Beach, and The Heights in Thames.
“Staying at a bed and breakfast is a real Kiwi experience and a must-do for both international and domestic visitors. Quality service is all part of a great experience and the guest feedback reflects this,” says Mr Howes.
Finalists for the AA Spirit of Hospitality Awards are selected based on comment cards sent in by guests. The winner selected based on feedback on the quality of stay rather than the number of votes received.
CEO of @home NEW ZEALAND, Trevor Knight, says it is great that the AA continues to encourage the industry to strive to be great hosts.
“I hope to see more of our @home NEW ZEALAND members taking part by making entry cards available to their guests to complete.”
“Bed and breakfast stays play a part in providing a memorable Kiwi experience for New Zealanders as well as international visitors,” says Mr Knight.
