New Couples’
Rooms At Polynesian Spa
It’s truly hot; it’s romantic; and it’s unique.
Polynesian Spa in Rotorua is due to
open two couples’ rooms in early August.
The Spa is
spending hundreds of thousands on the two rooms and further,
associated improvements in its retail area and Spa entrance.
The two double rooms will look out across Lake Rotorua from their vantage point inside a category B historic building, built in 1932. Two therapists will attend to the pair of clients’ needs in each room, and the couple can start and finish their therapy in the double shower for each room, or in the many geothermal hot pools on site. The couples’ rooms are designed to be environmentally sustainable, with no formaldehydes or glue in building materials and low emission paint.
“These rooms are
classy and designed for utter indulgence,” says Managing
Director of Polynesian Spa, Martin Lobb. “They’re a
refuge and relaxation haven for couples and with them we
will increase our capacity by 50%.”
All Polynesian
Spa’s therapy rooms are currently booked days in advance,
and have been throughout the recession says Mr Lobb.
“We think it’s because of the recession, not in spite of, that demand has been so high. These are the ultimate in relaxation so stressed people are seeking a retreat,” he says. Polynesian Spa offers sumptuous spa therapies that include Rotorua thermal mud, manuka honey and lavender.
The new couples’ rooms are decorated with warm, quiet earthy colours, timber flooring, upmarket granite bench tops and tiles from New Zealand tile company Middle Earth.
Beyond the rooms, retail space is being doubled due to demand. Spa Essentials is Polynesian Spa’s exclusive shop. It features more spa therapy and skin care ranges from Australasia than any other shop in New Zealand. The extension to the shop is also aimed at accommodating its specialist supply of swimwear (Spa Essentials sells a wide range of swimwear.).
The foyer of Polynesian Spa is also being enlarged for better flow through to any of the selection of 26 pools customers may choose to bathe in, and the Lake Spa Retreat therapy rooms.
Polynesian Spa is an internationally recognised geothermal spa on the shores of Lake Rotorua. It has repeatedly been voted one of the world’s top ten geothermal spas by travel magazine Conde Nast readers – the only spa to achieve this outside Europe.
Polynesian Spa has 26 geothermal hot pools on site, 13 therapists, and with the new additions, ten spa treatment rooms.
