2degrees rejoins the TCF
The Telecommunications Carriers’ Forum (TCF) is pleased to announce that mobile network company 2degrees has rejoined the organisation.
2degrees was previously a member of the TCF, but left in early 2009.
TCF Chief Executive Officer, David Stone, says the decision by 2degrees to rejoin the TCF means that all the major telecommunications companies are now members.
“We’re delighted to have them back on board, and we take it as a vote of confidence in the effectiveness of the TCF as an industry body. By working together, our members are making a real difference to New Zealand’s telecommunications industry.”
The TCF was formed in 2002. Its members work collaboratively to develop key industry standards and the codes of practice that underpin the digital economy.
The return of 2degrees means the TCF now has 13 members. The other members are: Telecom, Vodafone, TelstraClear, CallPlus, Compass Communications, Woosh, WorldxChange Communications, Kordia, FX Networks, Vector Communications, Bay City Communications and Trust Power.
The TCF is currently working on a number of industry issues, including the Government’s ultrafast broadband initiative. A TCF Working Party is working with Crown Fibre Holdings to prepare standards on product, technical, and operational matters associated with introducing UFB.
Mr Stone says that he expects more parties to become members of the TCF once the UFB initiative has been implemented.
