Unisys Expands End-User Services for Windows 7

Unisys aims to help clients realise productivity and cost advantages of powerful new environment

Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced new planning and migration services to help clients transform their desktop environments to capitalise on the power of the new Windows 7 operating system.

“Unisys has been a leading Microsoft Solutions Integrator for 15 years, and these new services for Windows 7 show why,” said Simon Witts, corporate vice president of the Enterprise and Partner Group at Microsoft. “Microsoft can count on Unisys to deliver consistently innovative end-user services that help our clients realise the productivity and cost advantages of the latest Microsoft technology.”

The services enable clients to assess, prepare and deploy Windows 7 in desktop environments. They include:
• An intensive, briefing-style half-day workshop designed to help clients assess their current desktop environment and see how migration to Windows 7 can enhance their employees’ productivity.
• Services to facilitate a range of first steps prior to full-scale deployment – from application compatibility testing to proof-of-concept pilots and production trials. These include testing for a variety of Windows 7 and Office 2010 applications, such as Microsoft Desktop Optimisation Pack (MDOP) and Microsoft Application Virtualisation (App-V).
• Managed services to streamline large-scale deployments of Windows 7 across the entire enterprise. Building on the capabilities of the migration tools Microsoft provides for Windows 7, these services include automated system imaging and software distribution, application portfolio upgrades, preparation for virtualised and cloud-hosted delivery of Windows 7 applications, and service desk and deskside services to support and prepare end-users and their systems for the transition.
