Lonely Planet Appoints Craig Potton Publishing as NZ Distributor
Lonely Planet, the world’s leading travel content provider, has announced the appointment of Craig Potton Publishing (CPP) as its exclusive distributor in New Zealand, effective from 5 September 2010.
“We’re delighted that Craig Potton Publishing will be distributing our products in New Zealand,” said Richard Samson, Lonely Planet’s General Manager Asia-Pacific. “New Zealanders have long been loyal to Lonely Planet, and we wanted to ensure our brand continued to be represented in NZ by a local company.”
Jane Connor, Managing Director and Publisher at CPP, also welcomed the new arrangement: 'We're absolutely thrilled to be taking on the distribution of Lonely Planet in New Zealand. It's a superb brand and a perfect fit with our company in every respect. Lonely Planet has a fantastic product range that’s very compatible with our own, and we can see strong potential for growth.
“We're committed to working closely with Lonely Planet and our retailers to increase sales and ensure their titles have the dominance they deserve in the travel section.”
Lonely Planet has previously been distributed in New Zealand by David Bateman Ltd.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank David Bateman Ltd for all their work in supporting Lonely Planet during this time,” Richard Samson said.
One of the first Lonely Planet titles to be distributed by CPP will be the eagerly-awaited 15th edition of Lonely Planet New Zealand – the world’s best-selling guidebook to the country – set for release in September.
