Internationally acclaimed social media recruitment

Internationally acclaimed social media recruitment campaign
recognised in local marketing awards

Deloitte Facebook page “a winner” with graduates and interns

Deloitte New Zealand’s award-winning graduate recruitment social media campaign has been announced as a finalist in the TVNZ-NZ Marketing Awards.

Deloitte’s entry is a finalist in the New Zealand Post Business to Business Award category, with the winners to be announced at a ceremony in Auckland on August 26.

As part of Deloitte’s annual graduate recruitment campaign, a Facebook page called “Up close and personal with Deloitte” was set up to engage with students and give them a taste of “life at Deloitte”.

Deloitte New Zealand talent acquisition manager Richard Long says the page was designed to give students insights into Deloitte’s culture, environment and values, as well as providing useful information about Deloitte through blogs, discussions and other interactive activities.

The page hosted live, interactive streaming video shows featuring Deloitte people talking about their experiences and impressions of the firm, with prospective recruits able to send in questions as they watched.

Mr Long says the Facebook page was primarily aimed to support graduate recruitment by bringing Deloitte’s employment brand to life, but also acted as a vehicle for graduates and interns to let Deloitte know the sort of information they needed when making a career decision.

“The fantastic thing about using a Facebook page is that you are involved in conversation with your social community, and that enables you to very easily and quickly tweak the information you’re providing based on that feedback,” Mr Long says.

The campaign engaged with graduates by mashing Facebook and Ustream to create a live and interactive experience, offering a real point of difference with other organisations recruiting on campuses throughout the country, he says.

Deloitte New Zealand recruits around 150 graduates and interns every year, and is understood to have been the first accounting firm in the world to use live streaming video on Facebook as a recruitment tool.

“Our goal is to firmly differentiate Deloitte New Zealand as the employer of choice among students. The campaign aimed to give them a sense of our culture and values, and the results have clearly showed that we’re hitting the mark.”

The campaign won an award at the US-based Social Recruiting Awards (SOCRAs) in April, ahead of 10 other entries from major US companies such as UPS, TMP Worldwide and Sodexo.
