NZ Life & Leisure Magazine Earns More Readers with Award-Winning Performance
Increasing numbers of Kiwis are turning to NZ Life & Leisure magazine for stories about New Zealanders living life their own way, with the lifestyle title enjoying growth in latest circulation and readership figures.
NZ Life & Leisure had one of the best readership and circulation results in the Home and Lifestyle category, with readership soaring 17.4% to 108,000 readers in the 12 months ended June, according to the latest Nielsen Media Research figures. NZ Audit Bureau of Circulation figures showed circulation for the title rose 8.6% to 25,087, of which 24,687 were average net paid sales. The lift is being driven by a significant growth in both subscriptions and retail sales.
“The team behind NZ Life & Leisure has always provided the highest quality content but recently this has been repositioned to ensure the title is accessible to the greatest number of readers. These latest survey numbers demonstrate the success of that strategy,” said Kate Coughlan, editorial director for Fairfax Magazines. “We deliver to our engaged readers the magazine of their dreams; we deliver to our advertisers the engaged readers of their dreams.”
Coughlan said it is particularly pleasing that the latest readership figures show that the title is significantly extending its reach across the country, particularly in the metropolitan centres of Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin, as well as the wider Otago region.
“These are great results for Fairfax because it shows the value of researching the market and being prepared to adjust according to results,” says Coughlan. “These strong figures in circulation and readership prove how important it is to keep on refining and refreshing your magazines to meet a constantly changing market.”
Readers of NZ Life & Leisure are enjoying the excellence recognised by judges of this year’s Magazine Publishers Awards. NZ Life & Leisure’s designer Yolanta Woldendorp, took the Designer of the Year in the General Interest & Entertainment category for her work on the magazine while Coughlan won the Supreme Editor of the Year mantle for fellow Fairfax title NZ House & Garden. NZ Life & Leisure itself won Best Magazine in the General Interest & Entertainment category.
