Career Services appoints new Chief Executive

The Career Services Board is delighted to announce that it has appointed Dr Graeme Benny as the new Chief Executive for Career Services.

Dr Benny is currently the General Manager of Corporate Services (Organisation Support) for the New Zealand Defence Force. During his past four years in this role he effected significant organisational change, including making substantial financial savings in the Defence Force budget.

Dr Benny’s career previous to the Defence Force was in the health and retirement sector as an executive, mostly in corporate management roles. He was formerly Chief Executive of the New Zealand Blood Service, where he was instrumental in restoring the organisation's credibility with the District Health Boards and the Ministry of Health.

Through these roles Dr Benny brings with him a series of networks that will continue to build on the work Career Services does to deliver information and guidance so New Zealanders can make informed decisions about their careers.

Dr Benny’s doctorate is in Clinical Biochemistry from Auckland University.

Career Services board chair, Arthur Graves, today said he was delighted to welcome a person of Dr Benny’s calibre to Career Services.

“We are very excited to have Dr Benny onboard with his skills and experience to help lead us in what will be a new era for our organisation,” says Mr Graves; “This is a crucial appointment for Career Services as we continue to pursue new ideas and stay ahead of the curve for career development, both here in New Zealand and internationally.”
