Two new senior appointments announced at Microsoft New Zealand

Microsoft New Zealand today announced two senior appointments to the local subsidiary’s leadership team – Donna Wright to the role of Services Director and Frazer Scott to the role of Business, Marketing and Operations Director. Both Donna and Frazer will start their new roles at Microsoft in mid October.

Donna’s core responsibility will be to oversee all activities relating to the Services business in New Zealand, including Consulting Services and Premier Support Groups. Further to this, Donna will be responsible for implementing the Worldwide Services Strategy within the context of Asia Pacific and the New Zealand subsidiary.

Frazer will lead the team responsible for Microsoft New Zealand’s product and customer marketing, compete, public relations, marketing communications, advertising and business planning function. He has been promoted from his current position as Acting Australia/New Zealand (ANZ) Marketing Director for Xbox and PC.

“Both Donna and Frazer were chosen from very strong sets of candidates,” says Paul Muckleston, Managing Director for Microsoft New Zealand. “Donna brings a strong mix of emotional and intellectual intelligence, and has an excellent track record of building strong teams and healthy organisations. She has proven business acumen from her experience as a CIO, and will add a unique customer perspective to the New Zealand leadership team.”

“Frazer is a valued member of our team having been with Microsoft NZ for the last eight years. He brings with him extensive experience from the retail and consumer world, strong leadership skills as well as broader sales management, marketing management, business planning and operational experience. We had a lot of interest in this role from external candidates but Frazer’s experience and skills really stood out; we are excited to have him join the senior team.”

Donna joins Microsoft from Coca-Cola Amatil (NZ) where she held the position of Chief Information Officer and oversaw the management of all New Zealand based infrastructure and services. Prior to Coca-Cola Amatil (NZ), Donna was Corporate Solutions Manager for Air New Zealand, and Business Systems Manager for Ansett Australia. This experience across both airlines and the FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) industry has given her extensive experience in staff development, systems strategy, and portfolio and programme management.

Frazer has enjoyed a number of senior roles in the Xbox world across Australia and New Zealand including ANZ Regional Sales Manager, Director of ANZ Business Management and most recently as acting ANZ Marketing Director Xbox and PC. Prior to joining Microsoft, Frazer worked as a New Zealand Sales Manager for Sony Corporation.

Donna holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, and both she and Frazer hold Masters of Business Administration from the University of Auckland.
