New ITO rules good for transparency, cost saving

New ITO rules good for transparency, cost saving

BusinessNZ endorses new funding rules for Industry Training Organisations, saying they will help the move towards more ITO cooperation and amalgamation, allowing for a reduction in training costs borne by business and taxpayers.

The changes announced today by the Tertiary Education Commission will also put more responsibility on ITOs to monitor and report on trainee achievement and improve the level of qualification completion.

BusinessNZ says greater transparency and focus on training outcomes will be welcomed by enterprise.

In recent consultation undertaken by the Tertiary Education Commission the business sector advocated for greater industry involvement in ITO governance, including the collective representation of industry employees and improved ability for employer and union contribution to the guidance of industry training decisions.

The inclusion of these in the new rules for ITOs has been welcomed by BusinessNZ.
