Pacific Pearl Popularity Leads To Extended 2012 Summer Season

Due to popular demand, P&O Cruises announces the extension of Pacific Pearl’s 2012 summer season with the addition of a new 14-night roundtrip cruise to Australia from Auckland.

The cruise will take New Zealanders to six beautiful Australian ports, including Hobart, Burnie and Port Arthur in Tasmania, the thriving cities of Melbourne and Sydney and an inaugural call to the historic city of Newcastle, north of Sydney.  The cruise will also include scenic cruising in Tasmania’s spectacular Wineglass and Oyster Bays.

Priced from NZD$2,369 per person quad share and NZD$3,599 per person twin share, the Pacific Pearl cruise will depart Auckland on January 29, 2012.

Pacific Pearl had previously been scheduled to end her New Zealand summer season with a four-night cruise from Auckland to Sydney on January 29. That cruise will now take place on February 12.

Complete Cruise Solution New Zealand Manager Shannon Currie says the move reflects strong advance bookings for Pacific Pearl, which will be officially named in Auckland on December 21 this year before departing on her maiden voyage to the Pacific Islands on December 22.

He says the addition of two Kiwi-focused food and wine cruises featuring guest chef, Queen of Maori Cuisine, Anne Thorp have been well received and demonstrate New Zealanders’ love affair with the sea and with new food experiences.

Mr Currie said Kiwis could also enjoy food and wine cruising on Pacific Pearl during the winter 2012 season which will see her offering a range of cruises from Sydney including a sensational three-night Barossa Themed food and wine cruise.

The new P&O Cruises 2012 winter program will also see the addition of the exciting new port of Mare, in New Caledonia’s Loyalty Islands. Mare, meaning ‘the island speaks to your heart’, is sure to be a favourite for romance seekers.
