Free Domain Names Offered as GST Goes Up

While many businesses have raised their prices this month, one New Zealand web hosting firm has lowered the cost to get a website online.

Auckland web host, Cheeky Monkey Hosting is giving away a free domain name with every new web hosting plan until the end of October.

Jaron Phillips of Cheeky Monkey Hosting admits he's using the GST hike as an excuse to charge lower prices since the rise on Friday.

"With advancements in technology, the cost to provide better hosting plans has dropped significantly. If your monthly bill hasn't reduced, you're probably continuing to blindly pay unnecessary fees to have your site hosted on the internet" says Mr Phillips.

Cheeky Monkey Hosting is also urging Kiwi's with existing websites to find out the physical location of their web host’s servers as many New Zealand Web Hosting providers host their servers offshore.

"If your target audience is local, then New Zealand based servers are the best choice meaning faster access for your visitors."

As a kick start for those tempted to get online, the web host is offering a free $60 Google AdWords credit and a domain name to allow website owners to reserve their brand or business name.

Entrepreneurs have until 31 October to take advantage of this deal.
