2010 CAANZ Effie® Awards Honour Communications

2010 CAANZ Effie® Awards Honour the Most Significant Achievement in Marketing Communications: Ideas That Work

In recognition of the high quality work submitted for the 2010 CAANZ EFFIE Awards, judges awarded 12 Gold, 15 Silver and 12 Bronze EFFIEs at this year’s award show held at the Sky City Convention Centre.

Presented annually by the Communication Agencies Association of New Zealand (CAANZ) the EFFIE’s are awarded in recognition of the year’s marketing communications campaigns that have delivered superior results.

CAANZ CEO, Rick Osborne, was impressed with the quality of entries from agencies, with winners needing to convince a panel of industry leaders including this year’s international judge Tim Broadbent, Ogilvy’s Beijing-based Effectiveness Director.

“If agencies are to realise the CAANZ vision of being viewed as strategic partners to clients they must convince CFOs and CEOs -and not just marketers- that they have the ability to make a positive impact on the goals and profitability of organisations.

There is no better way to convey this vision than by winning an award that has effectiveness at its core. The EFFIES are the awards that celebrate the nirvana where creative ideas drive measureable results.”

Colenso BBDO was awarded the Most Effective Agency of the Year for the second consecutive year, which recognises the most significant contribution made by an agency to the success of its clients.

“Colenso BBDO’s 12 EFFIEs, including four golds, reflects an enduring partnership approach and focus on campaign results for clients, said Mr Osborne.

The Ministry of Health was awarded the Most Effective Client of the Year award for its campaign work with agency DraftFCB on the National Depression Initiative - The Journal.

Commenting on the Client of the Year award Mr Osborne said, The Ministry of Health’s “The Journal” is a world first in healthcare that takes depression sufferers on a journey to recovery. Testament to The Journal’s effectiveness is the Ministry’s decisions to give it the same medical status as anti-depressant drugs.

TBWA\Tequila provided outstanding business results for new entrant telecommunications company 2degrees Mobile Ltd.
