Victory For Saint Clair Family Estate

Victory For Saint Clair Family Estate

Another trophy winner from Saint Clair Family Estate has just been announced at the New Zealand International Aromatic Wine Competition 2010. Saint Clair Pioneer Block 3 43 Degrees Sauvignon Blanc 2010 has been awarded the prestigious Champion Sauvignon Blanc Trophy.

West Brook Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2010 was awarded the prestigious Champion Wine in Show Trophy, gaining the highest score of all gold medal-winning wines.

The highly regarded New Zealand wine competition is open to any wine that is aromatic in style and from any internationally recognised wine region. A total of 241 medals were awarded, with only 15 of them being gold. Saint Clair received three of these with their internationally acclaimed Saint Clair Sauvignon Blanc varietal:
Saint Clair Pioneer Block 3 43 Degrees Sauvignon Blanc 2010 – GOLD MEDAL
Saint Clair Pioneer Block 2 Swamp Block Sauvignon Blanc 2010 – GOLD MEDAL
Saint Clair Pioneer Block 11 Cell Block Sauvignon Blanc 2010 – GOLD MEDAL

Saint Clair Pioneer Block wines are carefully selected through a unique quality assessment process. Each wine comes from small parcels of outstanding fruit from specialist vineyard sites prized for their individual terroir characteristics.

Managing Director and viticulturist Neal Ibbotson comments on the 2010 vintage, stating, “The weather was consistent to Marlborough, with high sunshine hours during the day and cool night time temperatures. Exceptional fruit came off well-balanced vines with clean, intense flavours and the classic characteristics that Marlborough has become famous for.”

Each Saint Clair Pioneer Block Sauvignon Blanc from the 2010 vintage has now been awarded a gold medal from an internationally recognised show. This confirms the quality of the 2010 vintage and clearly recognises the ability of Saint Clair’s winemaking team, led by Matt Thomson, to produce quality wines of world-class excellence – a remarkable achievement from the family-owned Marlborough winery.
