Search For Next Top Payroll Professional

The Search For New Zealand’s Next Top Payroll Professional

The unsung heroes of New Zealand business are about to step into the spotlight in the search for New Zealand’s ‘most loved’ Payroll Professional.

New Zealanders can nominate their colleagues for MYOB’s National Payroll Professional of the Year competition to celebrate National Payroll Professional Day on 3 December 2010.

MYOB general manager, Julian Smith, hopes New Zealanders from all industries will get involved and show their payroll professional how much they appreciate them.

“Payroll professionals are not often in the public eye, but they are the backbone of Kiwi business. This is an opportunity for their colleagues to show the country just how integral their payroll professional is. And we love supporting Kiwis who love their work.”

Last year, the winning small business payroll professional was Bronwyn Darby, who was nominated by Auckland-based graphic design firm Thoughtfields. Bronwyn’s nomination was in the form of an entertaining cartoon and poetic verse that cheekily described how much she meant to the Thoughtfields team, while also highlighting her many office talents.

Rugby hard man turned accounts star, Malcolm Barnes, was named as the 2009 medium-sized business payroll professional of the year. “Barnsey”, as he is known around the office, was nominated by the team at Waikato Rugby Union for his dedication – on and off the field – through a personalised poem extolling his abilities.

Mr Smith says he was amazed at the level of creativity exhibited by last year’s entrants, and is excited to see what people come up with in 2010.

“We received some fantastic entries in 2009 – from heartfelt and humorous poems to drawings and everything in between. We encourage people to really get creative with their entries, whether they choose to write a story or a poem, or shoot a short video clip.”

This year, one small business and one medium-sized business winner will receive travel vouchers to the value of $500, to give them the break they deserve for all their hard work.

To nominate your payroll person (you can even nominate yourself or someone from another business), email nppd@myob.co.nz, make your nomination online, or download the nomination form from myob.co.nz/payrollprofessionalday and post to:
