Lighting up the Albany Skyline for Charity

Lighting up the Albany Skyline for Charity

A dazzling display of fireworks is set to put some sparkle into the lives of sick kids.

Lighting Up the Albany Skyline is returning for a fourth year supporting Home Care 4 Kids - a service providing home-based care for children aged 0 to 16 following discharge from hospital in the Waitemata health district (Rodney, Waitakere & the North Shore).

“The lighting up of the Skyline has become a popular event that is welcomed by the community every year” says Senior Centre Manager, Lorraine Gatiss. “This year the display will be presented to music and be broadcast live by 91.8 MORE FM”.

This event includes entertainment by spectacular 9-piece soul/funk/dub band Rooftop Collective and 4-piece mariachi band Matecito Group. There’ll also be stilt walkers, fire performers, face painters and of course, a visit from everyone’s favourite furry friend – Monty the Monkey.

The event also celebrates the lighting of the stunning 12 metre Westfield Albany Christmas tree at 9pm, followed by an explosive firework display. The fireworks are a display of artist work by Fireworks Professionals Ltd.

Gold coin donations collected on the night for Home Care 4 Kids will help provide families and whanau with additional support and ensure children are given quality care in their homes.

Guests to the event are encouraged to grab dinner from the centre and enjoy a picnic in the park, or book a table at one of Westfield’s fabulous restaurants to get the best seats in the house.
