280 In Draw for Dairy Awards Bike Prize

280 In Draw for Dairy Awards Bike Prize

More than 280 entrants in the 2011 New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards are eligible for an early entry prize worth $4000.

National Convenor Chris Keeping says 285 entries had been fully completed in the awards by December 10, making them eligible for the early entry prize draw of a $4000 Honda farm bike. A total of 387 entries have been lodged to date.

Entries remain open in the New Zealand Sharemilker/Equity Farmer of the Year, New Zealand Farm Manager of the Year and New Zealand Dairy Trainee of the Year competitions. The entries are being accepted online at www.dairyindustryawards.co.nz until December 24.

“We’ve had an excellent response to entries being accepted online and this has certainly boosted those eligible for the early entry prize. With about a week to go until entries close we anticipate late entries will boost the total number of entries received to close to 500 – about the same as last year.”

The awards are supported by national sponsors Westpac, DairyNZ, Ecolab, Federated Farmers, Fonterra, Honda Motorcycles NZ, LIC, Meridian Energy, Ravensdown and RD1, along with industry partner Agriculture ITO.

Mrs Keeping says entrants first enter one of 12 regional competitions being held around the country. The three winners from each of those regional competitions will then progress to the national final, which will be held in Queenstown in May next year.

She says the early entry prize will be drawn on April 1 next year. “This gives entrants an added incentive to remain in the competition, taking part in the rewarding judging process and fun regional finals.”

More information on the awards can be found at www.dairyindustryawards.co.nz.
