Huffer ownership consolidates

New Zealand street brand Huffer is consolidating under the single management of cofounder Steve Dunstan following the decision of Dan Buckley to ‘move on to new challenges’. Steve’s background is in retail and together with Dan, a fashion design student, founded the label in 1997 as a street-wear brand based on skate and snowboarding lifestyles.

As creative director, Dan has been running a five-strong design team at Huffer that is young, energetic and extremely strong on brand which, in his own words, ‘has made me almost redundant’.

Dan will not be replaced as the board has every confidence the creativity that was Dan’s hallmark remains solid in the existing design team as ably demonstrated during the past two seasons. The team now reports direct to Steve.

While Dan’s design insights and energy will be missed, the board feels the resulting simpler management structure will provide direct benefits to the business.

Recently married, Dan remains a shareholder in Huffer and says he is ready for new challenges. He has been an integral part of the success of the Huffer brand and we are hugely indebted to him for his contribution. All of us at Huffer wish Dan every success in his future endeavours.

Steve Dunstan
Co-Founder
