Rural Services Coordinate efforts to fast track Earthquake relief funding

The country's leading agribusinesses are working together to facilitate donations from farmer clients into the Christchurch Earthquake Fund.

Retailers, PGG Wrightson, Elders, ATS, Farmlands and livestock companies affiliated with the New Zealand Stock and Station Association will be banking donations on behalf of farmer clients, and ensuring 100% of these donations are transferred to the Earthquake Trust account at the end of March.

The initiative would allow farmers the option of contributing cash donations or proceeds directly from livestock sales during the month, and had been established in response to a large number of requests from rural businesses and farmers.

Farmers are urged to talk to their local rural store or livestock agent if they wish to be involved.
