Update on Air New Zealand Airfares for Christchurch

Update on Air New Zealand Airfares for Christchurch

Domestic Standby airfares
Air New Zealand has extended its special domestic stand-by $50 one way airfares on direct services to/from Christchurch for booking and travel through until the end of March.

Customers wishing to purchase the special standby fares can do so via the following channels:

Air New Zealand Contact Centre: 0800 737 000
Air New Zealand Holidays Stores: 0800 737 767
In person at your nearest Air New Zealand Holidays Store

It is important that customers understand a “standby ticket” is an unconfirmed ticket and they need to be at the airport and ready to travel on the first available flight with a spare seat. If you wish to have a confirmed seat on a specific flight or are time constrained we strongly recommend you purchase a standard ticket ensuring you have a confirmed seat.

Standard airfares
Air New Zealand continues to offer lower priced standard airfares, ensuring that Smart Saver airfares are available each day on direct flights to and from Christchurch.

Compassionate domestic and international fares
Compassionate domestic and international fares for immediate family needing to travel to/from Christchurch for funeral and memorial services are available through the Air New Zealand Contact Centre or Holidays Stores.

Additional flight capacity
Air New Zealand is monitoring demand and continuing to add additional capacity out of Christchurch as required by using larger aircraft on existing scheduled flights as well as additional services.

Ticket flexibility
Air New Zealand continues to offer ticketing flexibility on all fare types for passengers ticketed for travel to/from Christchurch prior to 22 February for travel up to 25 March. Customers may:
Defer their travel to a later Air New Zealand flight in the same fare class. Ticket validity is 12-months from the date of issue of the ticket or if travel has commenced, 12-months from the first flown flight. If only higher fare classes are available, the fare differential will apply. If the proposed date of travel is unknown, then the value of the ticket may be held in credit for payment towards travel within the ticket validity.
Passengers ticketed to travel to Christchurch prior to and including Friday 25 March may change their travel to another Air New Zealand destination without penalty. In this instance any applicable fare differential will apply.
