GKP Announces New Board Members
Wellington. March 9, 2011. The Gifted Kids Programme (GKP) today announced the appointment of Dr Tracy Riley and Mr Len Ward to its Trust Board. The Gifted Kids Programme, a leading gifted education service provider in New Zealand, offers specialist services across New Zealand to schools wishing to offer and/or improve opportunities for their gifted students. The GKP curriculum promotes talent development through affective and cognitive growth.
"Tracy and Len will be outstanding Trustees with their proven leadership skills, broad experience and success in their own chosen fields, and their passion for ensuring gifted students received equitable educational opportunities” said Deb Clark, CEO of GKP.
Riley is an Associate Professor in gifted and talented education at Massey University. She is passionate about identifying gifted children in New Zealand and providing them with educational opportunities to develop their potential. Riley brings an educational perspective to the charitable trust and a long history of advocacy in the field.
Ward is practising law in Auckland after a career in the Financial Services and Energy Sectors in New Zealand at CEO and Director level. Ward states, “I have been fortunate to have enjoyed a successful business/legal career and when I was approached about joining GKP and found out about the fantastic work they are doing with gifted kids from low socio-economic schools, I just couldn’t say no.”
This Board of Trustees brings together a talented group of dedicated professionals with finance, business management, education and legal expertise, ” says Laraine Martin, Chair- The Gifted Kids Programme. "With our combined experiences and broad network, this team provides GKP with the critical tools we need to realise our vision." The other Trustees are Dave Appleyard, Marian Caulfield, Dick Fernyhough and Zac De Silva.
