Capture the Ultimate New Zealand Experience and Be in to Win
Tourism New Zealand has launched an online competition – myNZ- encouraging all New Zealanders and foreign travellers in the country to share their ultimate experience through photography or film.
The myNZ competition is being driven through Tourism New Zealand’s New Zealand 100% Pure Facebook page and calls on people to photograph or film themselves enjoying a favourite tourism experience or suggesting a pursuit, and then to post their picture or movie on the Facebook competition. A marriage proposal on top of Mt Tongariro and a video of cheeky Kea’s in Arthur’s Pass are among the hundreds of creative entries already received.
The person whose photo or film receives the most votes will receive a free flight to bring a friend to New Zealand, while people voting on the images from overseas and considering a trip to New Zealand will be entered in a draw to win flights for two; all thanks to Air New Zealand.
Kevin Bowler, Chief Executive Tourism New Zealand said, “the competition is part of a wider campaign designed to let the world know that New Zealand is open for visitors that initially began with advertisements in Australian and UK newspapers featuring photos of genuine Kiwi tourism operators clearly displaying the very simple message of open”.
The competition which opened on Friday already features over 180 images and videos of a variety of experiences and destinations, however, one of the great aspects of the competition is that each entry has a personal significance, says Mr Bowler.
“The activities and experiences are endless: relaxing at a beach or hiking through your local bush, taking to nearby hills, exploring our great museums and galleries or simply enjoying good wine, food and company at any one of our great cafes, restaurants or wineries, or mountain biking, which is a favourite of mine.
“By using the power of social media, everybody who loves New Zealand – kiwis and travelers alike – can share with the world reasons why Aotearoa warrants their attention.”
