Christchurch Airport wins international airport marketing award
Christchurch Airport has won the Oceania Routes Airport Marketing Award for the second time, ahead of Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney Airports.
The winners of this year's awards were announced at a lavish Gala Dinner in Incheon, South Korea, where over 400 aviation professionals are attending the 9th Routes Asia conference.
The international Routes Airport Marketing Awards recognise and reward excellence and quality in the marketing of routes by airports. Recipients of the awards are voted for by airlines, the main customers of an airport's routes marketing activities.
"We would like to thank our airline partners for recognising our commitment to marketing Christchurch and the South Island to their customers," said Christchurch International Airport Limited (CIAL) Chief Executive Jim Boult. "New Zealand's South Island is a fantastic destination for travellers and people can easily reach many great locations here through Christchurch."
Jim Boult noted that Christchurch Airport's airline partners had been crucial in providing services in and out of the city following the recent earthquake. "Their generosity and support has only affirmed our partnership with them, and I greatly appreciate the confidence expressed by this award for our ongoing work," he said.
Other winners in this
year's Asian regional heat are Beijing Capital International
Airport for the China and North Asia category, Abu Dhabi
Airports Company for the Middle East and Indian subcontinent
category, and Singapore Changi International Airport for the
South East Asia category.
In 2009, Christchurch Airport
won all three levels of Routes marketing awards: Oceania,
Asia-Pacific and
Global.
