Enlarged Scope Of The Technology NZ Voucher Scheme
Auckland Uniservices Welcomes The Enlarged Scope Of The Technology NZ Voucher Scheme
Auckland UniServices welcomes the announcement by the Ministry of Science and Innovation to extend the Technology Transfer Voucher to more companies and urges advanced manufacturing companies to contact UniServices.
CEO Peter Lee says The University of Auckland-owned company is dedicated to supporting New Zealand companies.
“We have a long history of engagement with high-value manufacturing and services companies. In the last three years, we have contracted services with 1,593 different companies. The average value of each of these projects was nearly $30,000.”
Helping business is an expensive undertaking because a lot of time can go into defining the problem. UniServices employs 15 business and commercialisation managers with a similar number of support staff. Once it understands what industry wants then the resources of The University of Auckland and Auckland UniServices swing into action.
Dr Lee says: “Our industry-focused centres cross a range of advanced manufacturing areas including the ability to solve problems in energy, materials polymers and composites, surface science, corrosion and surface failures, light metals such as aluminium, magnesium and titanium, software, energy utilisation and efficiency, medical devices, clean technologies, micro-fabrication and a huge range of testing services.”
He says the new threshold for the voucher scheme works perfectly for a very large number of UniServices’ clients. “In the past they have been prepared to spend $30,000 on research services and now we can deliver twice the value thanks to the Voucher scheme,” he says.
Generous Government technology assistance packages cover anything from student powered entry level projects to larger scale projects funded under the new voucher scheme and even bigger project funding schemes. Businesses wanting assistance should check out the UniServices’ site http://www.uniservices.co.nz/ and click on the Vouchers icon for further information.
