Rugby New Zealand director Sir John Wells joins MartinJenkins
Sir John Wells, a leading figure in New Zealand business and sport, has joined the board of consulting firm MartinJenkins.
Sir John has significant experience in investment banking. He is chairman, a founding director and a shareholder of Bancorp Group, and a director and a New Zealand Government representative on the board of Rugby New Zealand 2011.
MartinJenkins provides strategic management support to clients in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, working primarily on organisational performance, public policy and economic analysis, and evaluation and research. Based in Wellington, it opened an Auckland office earlier this year, headed by former Commerce Commission chief executive Nick Hill.
MartinJenkins director Doug Martin said that Sir John brought an extensive range of skills, knowledge and experience to the company.
“Sir John is one of the most experienced and well respected figures in the private and public sectors in New Zealand and we are delighted to have the opportunity to benefit from his wisdom and strategic leadership skills.”
Sir John holds several directorships including Chairman of Sheffield Ltd and Fisher Funds Management and sits on the Advisory Board of Marsh Ltd. His many key roles in sport have included chairing Sport & Recreation New Zealand (SPARC) from 2001 to 2009.
He has served on the board of the New Zealand Sports Foundation and chaired the National Coordinating Committee which reviewed the delivery of high-performance sport in New Zealand. He is a Distinguished Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (DCNZM) for services to business and sport.
