Auckland Airport is very pleased to
welcome the arrival of a new, proven, and globally
recognised travel retail store, Relay, which will offer high
quality service and products in books, news and convenience
across both the domestic and international terminals at New
Zealand's major transport hub.
Recently voted the eighth best airport in the world, Auckland Airport has been keen to partner with even more world-class brands in order to keep improving the passenger experience. General Manager for Retail & Commercial at Auckland Airport, Adrian Littlewood, said "We are very excited by the opportunity to help launch this global brand into New Zealand for the first time. We think travellers at Auckland Airport will be more than impressed by the range and quality of products and the specialty service that Relay can provide. Like us, they are very committed to doing what they can to make each passenger journey more enjoyable."
The new Relay branded stores will replace the outgoing Whitcoulls airport stores. There will be four new Relay stores in the international terminal and one store in the domestic terminal, each in prominent and accessible locations, and each to be rebranded and innovatively refurbished for Auckland Airport's environment by August 2011, ready in time for the RWC 2011. Relay is a brand of LS Travel Retail Pacific, a leading travel retail organisation. The Relay brand is now regarded as the largest travel retail brand of its kind in the world, with over 1,200 stores in 18 different countries, and with over one million customers served each day.
Relay is well-known in emerging Asia-Pacific markets, and has become synonymous with high-quality service and innovation in the travel retail sector. LS Travel Retail Pacific CEO, Scott Raisin, said "We are excited to be joining the retail offer at Auckland Airport and by the opportunity to bring Relay to New Zealand. Auckland Airport welcomes people from around the world, travellers who know and trust the Relay brand." Mr Littlewood said, "We were totally impressed by LS Travel Retail Pacific's commitment to the New Zealand market and their understanding of our customers.
LS Travel Retail Pacific will also be fitting out the Relay stores at Auckland Airport to a very high standard, and will have a strong focus on customer service and staff development. For all these reasons I think Relay will be an outstanding complement to our other world-class retail brands, and will add significantly to the passenger experience at Auckland Airport."
