Travel to England Spikes in April as Kiwis join the Royal Wedding Hype
Royal wedding fever is starting to grip the world as Prince William's wedding date to Kate Middleton looms and many Kiwis are heading to the UK to join the celebrations.
New Zealand's largest travel retailer, Flight Centre, has noticed a spike in bookings to the UK, specifically over 29 April, the date of the Royal wedding.
Flight Centre spokesperson, James Brooker, said that while demand for Europe and UK travel continues to climb overall, there has been a distinct rise in travel over the month of April.
"While people may not being heading to the UK specifically for the Royal wedding, it seems many Kiwis are timing their European travel around this time, possibly so they can be part of the action," Mr Brooker said.
The company has also had many enquiries about specific royal wedding packages.
"There are no specific wedding tours out of New Zealand to take in this special event, but our consultants have been working with eager clients to package England holidays, which will help them share in the experience of the wedding.
"Accommodation is getting tight in London as the city prepares for an influx of visitors, but there's still availability if you're looking at coinciding your European adventure with the wedding," Mr Brooker said.
