Fujitsu Releases Comprehensive Global Sustainability Story: 1938 - 2100
“Sustainability: Our Heritage, Your Future” features Fujitsu’s global activities and vision for a prosperous, low carbon future.
Auckland, 21 April 2011 – Fujitsu, a leading provider of ICT business solutions, today announced the release of a paper that shares the company’s comprehensive global sustainability journey. Titled “Sustainability: Our Heritage, Your Future”, the paper illustrates Fujitsu’s worldwide environmental activities and solutions that have placed the group on target to reduce its customers’ greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 15 million tons by next year. The paper covers Fujitsu’s customer offerings, strategy and overall philosophy for a prosperous, low carbon future.
“Sustainability is in our DNA,” said Alison Rowe, Global Executive Director Sustainability at Fujitsu. “Our sustainability journey dates back to 1938 with the creation of a parkland environment for our first factory and extends to our long term policy taking us to 2100. This paper presents a succinct review of Fujitsu’s sustainability heritage and vision and describes the thinking, efforts and accomplishments of the Group’s operations. The paper also explains how, through the provision of advanced, energy efficient data centres, cloud computing and intelligent solutions, we will transition to a new era we define as the Human Centric Society. Our strong heritage in environmental action has a direct bearing on the development of our products and services. We are seeing the power of ICT as an enabler of positive change.”
The release of the “Sustainability: Our Heritage, Your Future” paper comes on the eve of Earth Day 2011, which Rowe believes is “an ideal time to reflect on where we’ve been and to identify the vast opportunities for securing a sustainable future.”
Fujitsu’s challenging sustainability targets, supported by comprehensive policies and long term strategy, are evidence of a truly sustainable company and qualify its global leadership position in Green ICT.
