InternetNZ announces departure of Policy Director

InternetNZ (Internet New Zealand Inc.) has announced that its Policy Director, Jordan Carter, has resigned. His last day will be 19th May 2011.

Jordan was elected to the InternetNZ Council in 2000 and left in January 2003 to join the staff. He has since worked in various roles within InternetNZ, including Deputy Executive Director, and with the Domain Name Commission.

Says InternetNZ Chief Executive Vikram Kumar, “Jordan wants to increasingly focus on his political career. We wish him the very best.”

“During his time with InternetNZ, he has made a huge contribution to the organisation. Jordan has been a driving force of InternetNZ’s independent and high quality policy advice. Over the past seven years, he has gained the respect of his colleagues across the industry with his insightful and principles-based policy analysis.”

Jordan Carter says: “I have been privileged to work for InternetNZ. It is hugely satisfying to focus on issues that make a real difference to Internet users, and to do so for an organisation that takes part in policy debates with a principled basis.”

“I have learned many lessons and had many opportunities through my work with the Society. I am looking forward to making a different contribution in future,” he says.

Says Keith Davidson, "Jordan had been an InternetNZ Councillor during my term as President of the Society, and later Jordan was on my staff during the four years I spent as Executive Director of InternetNZ. Jordan's intellectual capability, his ability to analyse complex issues and present principled, logical positions and submissions was outstanding. My best wishes go to Jordan in fulfilling his political ambitions."

Agrees former InternetNZ Acting CE Richard Currey, “Jordan has the rare ability to listen to a wide variety of views and then distil them into a single coherent position that is backed by sound logic. I have no doubt that Jordan will excel in his new endeavours and I wish him all the best.”

Vikram Kumar concluded by saying, “I’m pleased that we will continue to have some access to Jordan’s experience and skills.”
