Supports for UPLoad 2011: New Ventures with Fast Fibre

InternetNZ supports UPLoad 2011: New Ventures with Fast Fibre

Media Release - 4 May 2011

InternetNZ (Internet New Zealand Inc) announces its support for the Wellington ICT industry networking event - UPLoad 2011: New Ventures with Fast Fibre - and encourages participation from individuals, ICT and business sectors. UPLoad 2011 takes place on Tuesday 17 May from 5.30 to 7.30pm. The event website and registration are here: http://up.org.nz/events/upload_2011_new_ventures_with_fast_fibre

UPLoad 2011 will focus on Ultrafast Broadband and the economic opportunities that may flow from the new incoming infrastructure - examples might come from areas such as WebTV, Hyper-ISPs, Global Data Centres, Virtual Museums, Gaming, Education, and Film.

"We are very pleased to support this initiative to explore the potential economic benefits of Ultrafast Broadband. This helps us all to expand the discussion beyond what it will cost, how it will be built, and how it will be regulated, to how we can make best use of Ultrafast Broadband to the long term benefit of all New Zealanders," says InternetNZ Chief Executive Vikram Kumar.

The MC/Provocateur for this event will be serial web entrepreneur Lance Wiggs and the key question posed will be "How can we draw upon Wellington's existing pool of creativity to build new high value ventures?"

An expert panel including Kumar and Crown Fibre Holdings CEO Graham Mitchell will frame the question, then the audience will divide into teams to brainstorm, select and pitch innovative ideas from the floor.

"There is so much creativity in Wellington and this is the opportunity to focus on new and interesting business models around our future infrastructure."
