North Auckland business awards pick up pace

The countdown is on for entrants in the Westpac Auckland North Business Awards as next month’s entry deadline, 2 June, draws closer.

More than 150 local business people gathered at North Harbour Stadium last Thursday night to mark the four weeks to go milestone and to get last minute advice on writing their entry.

Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development, who run the awards, is expecting 2011 to showcase a wide spectrum of innovative businesses in the area.

Business Development Manager Ngaio Merrick says “Every year we are dazzled by the immense talent, quality and uniqueness of the businesses who embrace this challenge. The pool of entries is a true indicator of the hot bed of awe inspiring business within our community.”

Steve Jurkovich, Westpac’s Regional Manager Business Banking – Northern believes the awards play an important role for businesses.

“Increasing business performance is crucial for the community and Westpac is delighted to support these awards as they showcase current business success and inspire future achievements,” he says

All businesses from the north Auckland area, whether small, medium or large, can enter up to three of 12 specialist categories.

“Entries are free and straightforward to put together. We also have business facilitators to help if you need,” says Ms Merrick.

“Entrants should focus on telling their business’ story while letting its passion, pride and individuality shine through.”

Entries close at 5pm on Thursday, 2 June 2011 with all winners announced at a black tie gala dinner in September. For more information visit: www.ens.org.nz/awards.
