New Careerforce Chief Executive
Announced
Media Release; 16 May
2011
The Careerforce Board today announced the appointment of Ray Lind as its new Chief Executive.
Ray is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Healthcare New Zealand and has been Deputy Chair of the Careerforce Board for the last year. Ray has a wealth of experience at senior levels in local government and the health sector.
Careerforce Board Chair Richard Westlake says that Ray’s proven leadership skills and sector knowledge make him ideally suited to lead the next stage of Careerforce’s strategic development.
“The Careerforce Board has full confidence that Ray Lind is the person for the job. Ray was appointed after an extensive recruitment process, and has an outstanding track record of developing and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders,” said Richard Westlake.
Richard Westlake says that Careerforce is a large and successful Industry Training Organisation (ITO), and the new Chief Executive will be tasked with navigating Careerforce through some significant challenges facing the company specifically, and the broader industry training sector.
“The unregulated care and support workforce plays a vital role in New Zealand’s health and aged-care system. The workforce is increasingly required to provide more complex care and support, and it is imperative that Careerforce-supported training is effective and accessible.
“Recent tertiary education policy changes, which move the focus from participation to qualification completion, have necessitated a significant move away from ‘business as usual’. One of Ray’s first tasks will be to ensure Careerforce has a sustainable business model that is able to respond effectively to the significant opportunities that lie ahead for us,” said Richard Westlake.
Ray Lind will take up his new role at Careerforce on 23 May.
