Media Release

Fulton Hogan¹s commitment to sustainable solutions

Fulton Hogan is pleased to provide a home to Biodiesel New Zealand newest bulk biofuel distribution facility.

The new fuel storage and dispensing facility located at Fulton Hogan¹s Port Nelson site will cater for the region¹s growing demand for biodiesel products, as more and more businesses look at ways to implement sustainable practices and lessen their impact on the environment.

Fulton Hogan is one of New Zealand¹s largest employers and is a strong campaigner of sustainable solutions for industry. Bill Perry, Chief Executive says that the company is committed to converting its New Zealand plant fleet to the use of renewable fuels. ³We are about to run trials using BiogoldTM fuel as part of our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint. Traditionally we have relied heavily on petrochemicals, but recent industry conversions to Biogold shows that it is an excellent source of renewable fuel for use in our plant and equipment.²

Biogold biodiesel is manufactured with used cooking oil, collected from food processors and large restaurants across New Zealand, and a portion of virgin canola oil. Bill says that in addition to the use of renewable fuels, Fulton Hogan has implemented a range of cleaner production initiatives to minimise its effects on the environment through reducing waste, increasing energy efficiency and reducing emissions. ³Currently Fulton Hogan recycles glass, used oil and asphalt back into our production operations. The use of renewable fuels is another step in the right direction and we are pleased that Biodiesel New Zealand chose Fulton Hogan¹s Port Nelson site as its new storage facility.²
