Media Release - 20 May 2011
Nominations open for
InternetNZ Lifetime Achievement Award
InternetNZ (Internet New Zealand Inc) is pleased to announce the launch of a new award recognising those who have contributed to the development of the Internet in New Zealand.
Public nominations for the inaugural InternetNZ Lifetime Achievement Award are now invited.
Nominations are open from 20 May to 7 June, 2011.
The winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award will be an individual who has made a significant and longstanding contribution to the New Zealand Internet; who has effected a far-reaching difference through that contribution, and who carries the respect of their peers.
Further information and nomination forms are available on InternetNZ’s website at: www.internetnz.net.nz/content/2011-InternetNZ-Lifetime-Achievement-Award
The winner will be selected by a Nominating Committee comprising representatives from InternetNZ, the Government, business and media sectors.
InternetNZ Chief Executive Vikram Kumar says the annual Award is a great way of showcasing the achievements of New Zealand’s vibrant and diverse Internet community, and affording an outstanding person the recognition they deserve.
“The Lifetime Achiever will be somebody whose contribution to the New Zealand Internet has benefited the wider community. This is the public’s opportunity to tell us who they think that person is.”
InternetNZ encourages nominations from any individual or organisation.
The winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award will be announced at the NetHui event on 29 June, where they will be honoured with a specially-designed engraved plaque. The winner will be re-announced later this year at the Australia and New Zealand Internet Awards (ANZIAs).
