Heilala Vanilla Ice Cream Scoops Category Win At Awards

PRESS RELEASE For immediate release 1 June 2011

Heilala Vanilla Ice Cream Scoops Category Win At New Zealand Ice Cream Awards

An ice cream made with the multi award-winning Heilala Vanilla was named joint winner of the premium vanilla ice cream category recently.

The Heilala Vanilla Ice Cream was entered in the annual ice cream awards, held by the New Zealand Ice Cream Manufacturers Association, by Zest, the Auckland-based food company that makes it.

Heilala Vanilla director, Jennifer Boggiss, said it is fantastic the ice cream has been recognised by industry experts. ³Vanilla is such a delicate flavour and is very difficult to get it just right. However, our Heilala Vanilla Paste used in the ice cream has resulted in the perfect vanilla flavour.²

According to a statement from the six judges, they had great difficulty in picking a winner for this category.

³Because vanilla is one of the most popular flavours, people are very fussy about the delicate taste and texture. So we¹re chuffed the judges had trouble selecting a winner and decided to award it jointly,² said Boggiss.

Heilala Vanilla Ice Cream shared joint honours in the premium vanilla ice cream category with Deep South Ice Cream, which went on to win the Supreme Award for a large manufacturer.

This year marked the highest-ever number of entries in the awards, with 250 entries from 31 companies throughout the country taking part.

Heilala Vanilla Ice Cream is currently available at Sabato Auckland, Moore Wilson Wellington, Rare Fare Christchurch, Okere Falls Store Rotorua, and the Good Food Trading Company Tauranga. 750ml RRP $14.95.
