CallPlus recognised in global
CIO 100 awards
International Data Group’s
CIO Magazine today announced New Zealand telco
company CallPlus as a recipient of the 2011 CIO 100 award.
The 24th annual award program recognises organisations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology.
CallPlus’ internally produced business intelligence solution, Nostro, has led them to the internationally recognised success – the only New Zealand company to receive this accolade in 2011.
Adrian Dick, Chief Technology Officer at CallPlus, explains the benefits of Nostro.
“CallPlus digitally stores a huge amount of operational data in separate data silos,” says Dick.
“Nostro creates open roads between data sources, giving insight into our operations and putting the information into the hands of the business decision makers. They can analyse the data and spot gaps, trends, exceptions and opportunities in the real-time reports, without intervention of the IT group.
“Nostro is changing the way we do business
by reducing operating costs, improving customer service
levels, identifying process inefficiencies and making the
company more responsive to market changes,” says Dick.
A distinguishing factor in CallPlus’ entry of Nostro into the CIO 100 Awards was the Kiwi ingenuity exhibited in the development of the technology. Nostro was developed using existing database software within CallPlus, and has been integrated and supported entirely on CallPlus’ internal resources.
Dick believes the award is very significant to CallPlus, saying that “recognition in the CIO 100 confirms CallPlus as a leading innovator on a global scale and showcases how effective and inventive we are within the IT landscape.”
“CallPlus is considerably smaller than many of the other honourees, but has used its innovative spirit to compete on a global stage.” says Dick.
Maryfran Johnson, Editor in Chief of CIO Magazine & Events, explains the significance of the CIO 100 Awards.
"This year's CIO 100 awards draw well-deserved attention to companies that are not only innovating with IT but creating genuine business value as well," said Johnson. "These winning companies and their IT organisations are an inspiration to businesses everywhere."
The 2011 CIO 100 awards will be presented at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado on August 14-16 at the conclusion of the sixteenth annual CIO 100 Symposium® and Awards Ceremony.
About the CIO 100
The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of judges reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' recommendations and voted on the final 100.
Complete coverage of the 2011 CIO 100 awards will be online at www.cio.com on August1, 2011 and in the August 1 issue of CIO magazine.
